Thought this would interest people: Former CTFC grantee the Ella Baker Center’s Silence the Violence project is still working hard to involve youth and media technology to stop the flood of violence in Oakland. Recent events include Turf Unity (a youth media training), a fundraiser at the home of former Oakland City Council candidate Aimee Allison, and the kick-off 2007 Silence the Violence party.
Youth live in a “urban wilderness”. Helping them envision their own future will help them navigate through this wilderness.
